The Process

To begin, please read the information below:

MATERIAL & PROCESS

Reference Photos

The process begins with photos of your subject. I ask for several clear photos from different angles, along with close-up images that show important details such as their coat, markings, colouring, and facial features.

The more detail I can see, the better I can capture their unique traits and likeness in clay.

Not a pet? Not a problem.

I’m also happy to create sculptures of animals that aren’t necessarily pets! If you’d like a custom piece and don’t have specific reference photos, I’m happy to work with you to discuss the details that will bring your sculpture to life.

Sculpting
My sculptures begin as small balls of clay and are carefully sculpted by hand over many hours (which typically turns into days!).

During this stage, I slowly build up the form while adding the fine details and textures that bring each sculpture to life.

Firing & Finishing
Once completely dry, the sculpture is fired in a kiln for the first time, creating what is known as a bisque firing.

After this initial firing, the sculpture is painted and finished with either a gloss or satin-matte glaze for added protection. It is then fired a second time, bringing the clay to its final, fully vitrified state.

OPTIONS & Costs

Single pet/animal sculptures start at $100 CAD. This is the price for a piece approximately 2.5' x 2 x 4' and less than 1 lb. *Sizes are approximate

Standard ceramic sculpture. Starting at: $100

1 + animals or larger ceramic sculpture. Starting at: $150

SOMETHING SPECIAL

Do you have something else in mind? Fantastic, I'd love to hear about it. Maybe it's a red panda holding an apple or a family of elephants wearing fancy hats (?!).

Whatever it is, you can include the details of your vision in the form below and we can discuss details and pricing from there.

Payment

Once your request is confirmed, a 50% deposit is required via e-transfer. This deposit secures your request. Once received, I will begin the creation process. The remaining balance is due before shipping or pickup.

Timeline

Custom orders are completed on a first-come first-basis and will depend on availability. Each piece typically takes approximately 4-8 weeks to complete from the start date (once your deposit is received). This allows time for careful crafting and proper drying.

Ceramic art can really test a person's patience! While I'll do my best to accommodate deadlines some things are out of my control :( The earlier you submit you a request (ideally 6-8 weeks in advance), the more likely it'll be finished on time!
